Health Insurance for Students

Health Insurance for Students on F-1 and J-1 Visas

Stanford requires that all registered students carry adequate health insurance. This requirement can be met either through Cardinal Care (the university sponsored health insurance plan), or through an alternative insurance plan that has comparable benefits.

J-1 Students

As a J-1 Student, you can sign up for Stanford's Cardinal Care Plan, which meets the Department of State insurance requirements. All J-1 students and their dependents are eligible for Cardinal Care.
