Removing the Enrollment Hold

Due to COVID-19, the process for removing the enrollment hold has been changed for the Fall 2020 quarter.

All new students have an enrollment hold (ENR 31), as immigration law requires us to verify a student's initial arrival on-campus as well as their current U.S. residence address.  All new incoming international students who will be attending Stanford either in-person or remotely must successfully complete the New International Student Form and STARS training before their enrollment hold can be released.

Removing the Enrollment Hold

  • Complete the NEW International Students Form that was emailed to you.
  • All students will need to complete the Maintaining Legal Status STARS Training in Axess.
  • Students entering the U.S. will have their ENR 31 hold released after they have entered the U.S., updated their SEVIS(US) address in Axess, and provided their I-94 electronic arrival record confirming entry in F or J status.
  • Students studying remotely will have their hold released after completing the Maintaining Legal Status STARS Training.
  • Transfer students should have completed an additional Fall 2020 SEVIS Transfer Student Form.
