Open to: 
Graduate students
Eligibility requirements: 
  • Currently be enrolled at an accredited US or Canadian university/college

  • Be a graduate student or an undergraduate student who will have completed their sophomore year by the time the research stay in Switzerland begins
  • Provide a written confirmation from a professor at a Swiss university that they will accept you for a research stay in their group


Application Process: 


The ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship does not have a campus process. The national deadline is typically in mid-January. The application process is lengthy and requires many months of preparation.

How the ORC can help

After reading this website and the official ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship website you should fill out the ORC Interest Form (located at either the top of this page or our ORC homepage). Next, attend an info session. The schedule for current info sessions can be found on the lower left of our ORC homepage:

Amount Awarded: 
Monthly scholarship of ~$1,600 (CHF 1,600) for a period of 2-3 months which covers part of living costs

About the ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship

ThinkSwiss is a program whose aim is to encourage collaboration between Swiss and US students and academics in a variety of fields. The scholarship is open to outstanding students in all fields with an interest in conducting research or participating in a summer school course in Switzerland.
