H-1B Departure
H-1B work authorization ends at the end of the employment period, regardless of the end date of the H-1B approval notice.
You and your department should work closely together as your employment end date approaches to determine the exact date your employment will end.
If your employment is terminated by your department prior to the end of the H-1B petition validity period, your department is required to offer to pay reasonable costs of return transportation for you to return to your last place of residence abroad. When the H-1B is terminated prior to the end of the H-1B petition validity period, there is a 60 day grace period in which you may remain in the U.S.
When your employment reaches the end of the H-1B petition validity period, there is a 10 day grace period for you to leave the U.S.
