Summer Travel Guidance

Dear Stanford international community,

In this time of immigration uncertainty, we are watching developments on various fronts very closely.  We know that many of you have questions about travel. We regularly provide immigration updates, including recent travel guidance, available here, and  other important travel guidance can be found here 

If you are in F-1 or J-1 status, keep in mind that your I-20 or DS-2019 must have a valid travel signature to re-enter the U.S. Travel signatures are only valid for one year, but good for multiple entries. Travel signatures can be found on page 2 of your I-20 or the first page of your DS-2019.  If you are an F-1 or J-1 student or scholar and need a travel signature, please check here.  

We expect that visa processing times will increase this summer and visa appointment availability will decrease.  In addition, Chinese nationals seeking student and scholar visas may face longer delays. As we have previously stated, we do not recommend non-essential international travel at this time.
